BIOGRAPHY
Once upon a time there was this girl and she became NAREE – singer/songwriter extraordinaire. She has the power to make you cry, smile, be happy, depressed, and in some cases make you want to get up and change the world!
How does she do this? How is it possible?
The secret is… it's all in the lyrics. Powerful, forceful, emotionally
driven words; mix this with strong melodies and powerful hooks and you've got it. Hear her sing live and you will be captivated by her personality, charm and overpowering charisma.
How did this all begin? What's the story?
It all began just after her 14th birthday when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After two operations, four three day chemotherapy sessions, a massive pulmonary embolism, kidney failure, eight days on a breathing machine; a giant 15.4 lb tumour was removed. To help deal with what happened, NAREE got out her guitar, put pen to paper and produced songs such as Heaven In This World, Stinging and Just A Teenager. Those songs were the start of her path to a music career and showed her capabilities as a strong songwriter. However, these days her songs are inspired by the people she meets and everyday events which most listeners can relate to.
NAREE’s style of music is classed as Pop Rock meets Adult Contemporary, with critics already comparing her to Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne and even Lisa Loeb. However, she likes all types of music from rock to musicals and being half Thai, she also has a love for Asian pop music. All these influences add a unique quality to her songs, and gives NAREE the confidence to create the more light hearted, comical songs such as Superhero and Ho Ho Ho to the more serious, thought-provoking songs such as Blame and In Arms.
NAREE currently has two albums, I’m No Fool (2003) and Proud (2004) as well as a music video Superhero and various merchandise such as t-shirts and pendants. She resides in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates where she continues to work on her music but still finds time to have a work out the gym and perform at various social events and cafes (check out the Events page to find out where she is playing next!)
In the future, NAREE will be attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA in September 2006, but will continue to perform and share her music with her fans. She also has plans to publish a book about her experience with ovarian cancer, and on a lighter note she hopes to develop an Anime (Japanese animation) based on “the adventures of NAREE”.
